These past couple of weeks have been quite exciting for Android fans. Google announced the highly anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo and it confirmed that Pixel 2 will be unveiled on October 4th. However, things are not going so great for everyone in the Android community, especially for Motorola fans. Ever since Google announced its new Oreo operating system, every major smartphone company started confirming which one of their devices are scheduled to receive it. Unfortunately for Motorola fans, not all of them will get access to Android 8.0 Oreo.
As everyone can clearly see, there are a bunch of smartphones which will not receive Android 8.0 Oreo. The smartphones which are excluded from that list are Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, Moto G4 Play, Moto E4, Moto E4 and Moto C Plus. Traditionally, companies stop rolling out major operating system updates to smartphones which are too older. What’s surprising is that Motorola is not following that rule at all since Moto C Plus was released earlier this year.
The thing that’s probably annoying Motorola fans who won’t receive Google’s latest update the most is the fact that Android 8.0 Oreo contains a bunch of cool new features such as the picture-in-picture mode. Moreover, Android 8.0 Oreo also brings 60 new redesigned emojis, Adaptive Icons and even performance enhancement tweaks. On the other hand though, Motorola fans who will not receive this major update should know that they can always get their hands on it through third party apps or by flashing custom developer ROMs.
