Google introduced Android Go, a stripped down version of Android for the entry-level smartphones, in May. Android Go is designed to run on phones with 512MB or 1GB RAM. In the near future, we might see a lot of companies building Android Go smartphones, similar to what we had seen with Android One. Well, it looks like HMD Global has finalised a phone for the Android Go initiative and it could be named Nokia 1. Specifications and release date of the device was hinted by @eldarmurtazina few hours ago on Twitter.

Nokia 1: Rumored Specifications

As mentioned above, the Nokia 1 is said to run Android Go. It is supposed to feature an IPS LCD display with 720p resolution. The display size of the smartphone hasn’t been revealed yet, but we can presume it to be somewhere between 4.7 inches and 5 inches. Furthermore, it is said to come packed with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It will most probably be a dual-SIM smartphone with compatibility for 4G LTE networks and VoLTE calls.

As far as the pricing of the Nokia 1 is concerned, it is expected to retail for 5990 Rubles (Rs. 6,108). We expect the Nokia 1 to be priced cheaper than the Nokia 2, which is currently available in the country for Rs. 6,999. The release of the device is said to happen sometime in March 2018. Considering that Google’s Android Go program for the entry-level smartphones was launched earlier this month at the Google for India 2017 event, we expect the Nokia 1 to launch in India next year.

We might also get to see Android Go smartphones from Huawei by next year. The specifications of the expected Android Go smartphone from Huawei have not been leaked till now, but its pricing is said to be in anywhere between RUB 4,990 and RUB 5,490 (around Rs. 5,547 and Rs. 6,103).
