Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched its flagship device of the year dubbed as Xiaomi Mi 6. The phone was launched in China only featuring top end hardware and software specs. Now, according to a recent listing on benchmarking website, a new Xiaomi phone with model code-name “Xiaomi Jason” spotted. As per the speculations, Xiaomi is planning to bring an affordable and low-specced younger sibling of Mi 6, which will be called Xiaomi Mi 6C.
As per the listing, the Mi 6C puts on a 5.1-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 192 x 1080 pixels. Under the hood, the phone will be powered by Snapdragon 660, which was recently launched by Qualcomm as a successor to Snapdragon 653. Accompanying the chipset, the phone will get a massive 6GB of RAM and Adreno 512 GPU. The phone is also likely to come with 64GB inbuilt storage with an option to further expand it via MicroSD card.
For photography, the phone is said to mount a 12-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front facing camera for selfies. The listing also reveals the phone to be running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat which will be wrapped under MIUI 8. Looking at the benchmarking score, there’s a visible difference between Mi 6 and Mi 6C. It sure does lack behind the flagship device, the reason being the processor. Powering the Mi 6 is the Snapdragon 835, Qualcomm’s top of the line flagship chipset whereas the Snapdragon 660 is a mid-range and more affordable option.
That said, the MI 6C is expected to be priced lower than the flagship device Mi 6. It would be interesting to see whether Xiaomi will bring Mi 6C to India also.
